Kam Motorsports Tech Session 3/25/06 (1 through 8 of 8)
Some 19 TYP 356 NE members and five CT Valley Region (CVR) 356 members gathered at KAM Motorsports in Waterbury, CT to hear a terrific presentation by renowned 356 and 4-cam expert, Gerry McCarthy, on the history and development of the 356 Porsche. Gerry included in his discussion stories about some of the early engines and 356s he has worked on or was subsequently involved with in some fashion.

Following a delightful lunch that consisted of slices from three different 36-inch club sandwiches, salads and soft drinks, KAM chief 4-cam mechanic, Jeff Adams, and Gerry gave an interesting and informative presentation on the development of the 4-cam engine, how it is different from the push rod and key innovations in its development.

With over 45 years of experience, Gerry is well known and respected in Porsche circles. His knowledge and expertise is sought out from all corners of the USA and Europe. He even gets inquiries from South America on occasion. Jeff has served as KAM's primary mechanic to rebuild 4 cam engines for the past four plus years. After their presentations today, it is easy to see why they are well regarded in 356 circles.

Members also were able to tour KAM's new shop, see its facilities and some of the cars being worked on.

The food was great, the information fascinating and the camaraderie among the MA and CT members warm. It was a fast moving four hours of pure 356 immersion!

Our thanks goes to new KAM owner Gene Antico for hosting the event and Jerry Charlup of the CVR Club for having his members join what we hope will be regular joint meetings with our CT brethren. - Larry Bingaman
