In an effort to provide as many and varied resources to its members, the Club has developed this Resource Directory which lists various businesses that have done work on 356's and are recommended by some of our members. While our Club encourages its members to take advantage of services provided by Club Sponsors, we understand that due to personal reasons, distance/travel to a particular vendor and costs, that may not be possible. Therefore this list of additional businesses is provided to our members for their consideration. As always, each member should perform their own research on any particular business and proceed using their own judgment. Miscellaneous
Pilkington Glass Company
They make factory spec replacement windshields for modern and classic cars in their Classic Car Department. They stock windshield (only) glass for most all 356 models as well as most other classic cars. They do not make glass for replicas only for production cars. However, all the Speedster and 550 replica makers use factory spec glass. The Pilkington part number for both these models is FW045. In Massachusetts you can order the Pilkington replacement windshields through your local auto glass company and it will be covered by your insurance company. The only negative is the glass will not have the original factory brand logos. You should phone the Pilkington Classics Department to make sure they stock your glass then have your local auto glass company order it for you. They may also install it for you.
